AV-Aids Lab
An AV (Audio-Visual) Aids Lab in nursing education is a dedicated space where student nurses learn and practice using various audio-visual tools to enhance teaching, learning, and patient education. These aids help convey complex medical or nursing concepts in a clearer and more engaging way.
Purpose of AV Aids Lab in Nursing:
- Enhance teaching and learning through visual and auditory methods.
- Improve communication skills of nursing students.
- Aid in patient education by using visuals to explain health conditions or treatments.
- Support innovative teaching strategies for nurse educators.
- Develop instructional materials like charts, models, posters, videos, etc.
Common Equipment & Materials in AV Aids Lab are –
- Projectors (Overhead, LCD),
- Charts and posters (anatomy, procedures, diseases),
- Flip charts and whiteboards,
- Mannequins and models (for anatomy or nursing procedures),
- Television and DVD player,
- Computers with educational software,
- Microphones and speakers,
- Video and audio tapes/CDs, Cameras (still and video).
Activities Conducted in the AV Aids Lab are –
- Demonstrations using models or videos,
- Practice sessions for preparing teaching aids,
- Presentations by students using PowerPoint,
- Workshops on effective communication and teaching methods,
- Role plays and simulations with audio-visual feedback.
- Each of these equipment are used by the students in various practical fields (Simulation and class presentation) as well as college cultural programs.
