Community Health Nursing

The Community Health Nursing (CHN) lab is an essential component of nursing education, designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the field of public health. It serves as a simulated environment where nursing students are trained in various community-based skills before they are exposed to real-life situations in rural or urban community settings. The lab is typically equipped with models, charts, audiovisual aids, home visiting bags, and materials for conducting health assessments, demonstrations, and health education sessions. Students practice skills such as conducting surveys, assessing nutritional status, preparing community profiles, planning and implementing health education programs, and performing basic nursing procedures suitable for home care. The CHN lab also fosters the development of communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and community rapport-building techniques. By providing hands-on experience in a controlled and guided setting, the CHN lab prepares nursing students to deliver holistic and culturally appropriate care to individuals, families, and communities, thereby strengthening the foundation of preventive and promotive health care in the country.
